Firstly, you need to link your GFN account with your Ubisoft Connect account in the GFN Settings, then it won't ask for the key anymore after you've signed up and logged in for the Far Cry 6 free weekend (you must already have a Ubisoft Connect account if you are able to register the game from its website). Far Cry 6 may have slipped slightly from its original launch date of February 18th, but fans of the open world first-person shooter franchise need not worry at all, as a recent presentation showed Lauren Aitken gave the game a respectable 75 in her Far Cry 6 review, praising the game's setting and exploration, but finding it fell into predictable patterns that have plagued the games before

I saw that it was free weekend and Iā€™ve been interested in getting this game for a while now. So I went to the Ubisoft store and clicked play for free (pc) and selected launch Ubisoft connect for pc and then it opens an activation code tab for Ubisoft connect. I donā€™t know if Iā€™m missing something but any help would be appreciated.

Just because you find it unrealistic or not ā€œadult-likeā€ doesnā€™t mean that your BS projection of ā€œ99.9% of peopleā€¦ā€ is close to accurate. I work full time, go to school full time, and Iā€™m married and still can beat Far Cry 6 (a roughly 25 hour long game) in 4 days. Just gotta execute it properly.
